


Brosnan, making his third appearance at the festival, talked about his role as a grieving father in "The Greatest," the festival's opening-night film, which also stars susan sarandon and rising young actress Carey Mulligan ("An Education," released Friday).
The filmmakers wanted Sarandon to co-star, Brosnan said at the bar of the East Hampton hotel c/o The Maidstone. "So I called her. Left a message on her machine, actually. I said, 'Come on, why not? What else have you got going on?' She said, 'You had me at why not.' "
The Greatest: The Festival’s Opener directed by newcomer Shana Feste stars Susan Sarandon, Pierce Brosnan, Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kravitz, and tells the story of a family who deals with one son’s death, and one son’s drug use.
