Roman Polanski will be too late to complete his film

Mandrake learns that the film by the 76-year-old director, who faces extradition to America on charges of having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in1977, was finished during his time in jall.

"The film is completed now," says Robert Harris, who wrote the novel on which it is based. "It was done in his absence, but I think all the instructions had been left. The timetable was such that it had to be done without Roman."

Pierce Brosnan stars in The Ghost, which is about a former British prime minister facing prosecution for war crimes.

Roman Polanski's relief at being granted £2.7 million bail by a Swiss court may be tempered by the fact that he will be too late to finish his film The Ghost.
