Revealing the world of Percy Jackson & The Olympians

A NEW poster has been unveiled for Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, the film adaptation of the first of Rick Riordan's five-book children's fantasy series

It centres on a boy (Logan Lerman) who discovers he is a demigod - the son of sea-god Poseidon - and, judging from the poster, he seems to have inherited some of his dad's supernatural control of the wet stuff.

Directed by Chris Columbus, who previously steered the first two Harry Potter films, the story tells of Percy's journey across America with two friends to rescue his human mother and prevent a war between the gods.

Among the large cast of mythical beings and creatures, Sean Bean plays Zeus, Steve Coogan is Hades, Kevin McKidd is Poseidon, CSI star Melina Kanakaredes is Athena, Ray Winstone is Ares, Serinda Swan is Aphrodite, Pierce Brosnan is the centaur Chiron and Uma Thurman is Medusa. The gods' home Mount Olympus is hidden atop the Empire State Building.

.

The film is due out on February 12, a month before we see some of the Greek gods again in the remake of Clash of the Titans.
